Judo originated from Japan and is considered both a martial art and a competitive sport where the objective is to takedown, throw, pin, or force an opponent into submission with a joint lock or a choke.

The Judo Club, HKUSTSU was founded in 1995. The Club is instructed by former Vice President of the Judo Association of Hong Kong, China, Mr. CHEUNG Kum Hoi (8th Dan). Outstanding Club Members will be recruited to be Members of HKUST Judo Team and represent the University to compete in inter-varsity competition.
